Healing step by step

Logging in to this page was very hard for me today. 

April 22nd 2015 I got hurt and had a sprained neck. At first I couldn't lift 5 lbs then it increased to 10 and now I am up to 20 lbs. 

These past couple months have been very difficult for me. I went from working out 3-5 times a week to maybe once a week if the pain wasn't that bad. Even if I wanted to exercise I didn't always have the energy.

 I am now completely out of shape.. I have gained weight and lost a lot of muscle. It upsets me every day. For the longest time simple tasks such as doing laundry or going grocery shopping couldn't be done alone. I was constantly asking for others to help me. That was the worst! 

One of the first couple of days after I got hurt I was at the grocery store. I needed something off of a top shelf and I wasn't allowed to reach up for it. Of course no one was in the isle! What did I do? I left without it feeling more upset. 

I ordered my wedding dress and 1 more payment and it is mine. I decided that injury or no injury I needed to start working out to get back in shape! Slightly over 300 days until my big day! 

I got the A OK from the Dr. to slowly begin working out and seeing what I can do without pain. I started doing some Zumba at home. As long as I don't move my head and just look straight ahead I am alright. 

I took measurements and each Sunday I am going to see my progress! My best friend is going to help keep me motivated and vise versa!

Attempted 21 day fix.....

I got the 21 day fix in the mail and began to follow along with the exercises. I found them challenging and they seem to be a great workout. However due to getting sick I put the exercising on hold. 

What  I did not like about the 21 day fix was the eating suggestions. When I did the calculations I should be at the lowest calorie intake for the day which is 1,200-1,499 calories. I instantly knew that was defiantly not enough food for me. 

I bumped my calories up 2 levels to 1,800 to 2,099. This was okay as long as I did not exercise or walk for the day. My Fitbit keeps track of the calories I burn throughout the day from walking and just being awake. I was burning an average of 1,954 calories a day simply from my steps and my normal resting metabolism.

Adding my workouts in, I was burning a lot more calories than I was consuming. I talked with some coaches from beach body and a couple told me that it is normal to be ‘hungry all the time’ at first and that after a while you get used to it and won’t feel as hungry.

This is fine if you are trying to lose weight….. however, this is not my intentions. I want to tone my body and gain muscle not lose weight. If I would have continued the strict diet I feel that I would have lost weight and became unhealthy. I am going to start back up with the exercises and eat healthier… but not as strict of an eating diet as they want.

What to do?

Have you lost your motivation? I'll be honest... I have.

With the new job I have found it very hard to eat like I should. 9/10 I haven't been hungry in the mornings so I skip breakfast and at lunch I am lucky if I have 15 min to actually eat so I usually don't bring a full meal.  

Right now I am trying to find a workout that works best for my busy schedule and needs. I am looking at the different work outs that beach body offers but I haven't decided yet. 

I keep looking at my engagement ring and somehow I find a little bit of motivation. I am hoping once I find a new job I hope to really get back to eating better and working out daily!

Just Dance



 One of my favorite "work outs" to do at home is Just Dance  on the Wii.

Lately I have been playing Just Dance 2015. I got it all set up with the internet and I have been doing the world dance. I haven't been able to be in the top 50 yet but I won't give up until I get in the top 20. 

The other day I played/danced for 15 min and did 1,000 steps! It is a great work out in a short amount of time and IT'S FUN! 

When working out is fun you want to do it more often and when you exercise more you reach your goals faster!  



What is your favorite Just Dance? I haven't decided yet.

Tone it up!

Sometimes working out and getting in shape can be overwhelming! I know for my wedding I want my arms, legs, butt and core to be well… at my goal…. Which looks something like this:

Wanting to focus on my core it really hurts my steps daily. The days I do a lot of core exercises I mostly am on the ground or sitting. These days I struggle to get in as many steps as possible.  


Tonight after a day of sitting… my exercise looked like:

  • 10 reverse hip raises on an exercise ball
  • 10 Jumping Jacks
  • 10 opposite arm and leg lifts on an exercise ball
  • 1 min Jogged in place
  • 10 bicycles
  • 3 min Zumba inspired dancing to “Happy”
  • 10 leg lifts
  • 10 second plank

I am EXHAUSTED! My core is really not what it used to be! I hope to increase my workouts and get the core I really want for my big day!

Exercise Books

Today my Kindle Fire HD came in the mail. (YAY!) I decided to look at the kindle books for some free exercise and fitness books to read up on. I got 8 to start some light reading. (haha I know it's a lot but I couldn't resist!)


I started reading Workout Series 4- Week Bodyweight Home Workout Volume 1. 

Each week it gives you three workouts to do with rest days in between. I did week 1 workout 1 of 3 today.

1 round of the exercise is:
30 Jumping Jacks 
7 Wide push-ups 

I had to do as many rounds of the exercise in 10 min. It was rough after leg day at the gym!

I did 10 rounds that's 300 Jumping jacks and 70 wide push-ups. That was very tiring! I had to modify the push-ups slightly but I did it! I can't wait to see what the next exercise is!
